Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area

With a 2,845 acre lake and 4,721 acres of land, Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area has lots of room to play. Located 5 miles from Loup City, the facilities here include three boat ramps, picnic tables and shelters, primitive camping, restrooms with coin operated showers, a dump station and fish cleaning stations.

The 65 mile shoreline of the lake is very irregular and provides a number of interesting bays and coves with great fishing and exploring opportunities. The fish available here include walleye, largemouth bass, white bass, crappie and catfish.

There are a number of recreation sites scattered around the lake which offer 360 primitive camping sites and day-use facilities, inlcuding drinking water, vault toilets and picnic tables and shelters. The main access is Trail 1 which leads to several hard surfaced recreation areas and Thunder Bay Boat Ramp as well as the park headquarters, the coin operated showers and the dump station. Trail 2 provides access to the Marina Bay Boat Ramp and the Trade Winds Marina concession area.
